Happy Fourth of July

Happy 4th of July, 2009. This is the beginning of a series of postings by Chuck and Pat Shorten chronicling some of the major highlights of 2009 and beyond.

Beginning next week, we will be traveling to Costa Rica with 16 students from West Chester University. There, students will study for three weeks with Chuck and his colleague, Prof. Ana Sanchez, at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia, just outside San Jose. Pat will take some Spanish tutoring and will assist with the general management of the course and our students. We will post amusing anecdotes and images from our trip here at this blog.

Immediately upon our return to the U.S. in August we plan to begin a major renovation of our home. This will be the place to watch our progress - with before, during and after images. Our plans are gradiose: raise the roof in one place, eliminate some roof in another, replace the roofing, siding and windows; replace the heating system and install air conditioning; gut and expand the kitchen; move and replace the powder and laundry rooms; enlarge the master bedroom and drastically change the master bath. It will be a new house when we are through!
